so a few of us grabbed drinks the other night with a friend from out of town. way back when he sent me some literature regarding satanic and masonic symbols and the influences they have on pop culture. he was trying to explain to our "capitalist" type friend how we should analyze and read into things instead of just taking or subconsciously absorbing them without question. we discussed jay-z's video "on to the next one" which is my favorite video of all time. the black and white video includes skulls, blood, clowns, fire, crows, goths, etc...
when hova makes his "rocafella diamond" some have suggested he is paying homage to the iconic masonic compass. representation of a "secret society" known as the freemasons that originated in late 16th century. a group of elitists who include presidents, prime ministers, CEOs, etc... right or wrong i came to the conclusion that since jay-z has such a global impact on literally millions of people, he could be apart of this "society" but could possibly be a puppet type figure as opposed to an influential policy/decision maker. rappers using images of crystal and bentleys as status symbols flaunting what they have, jay-z is simply taking it to the next level saying "you could have the bentleys but you can never have what i have" exclusive to the next level, exclusivity that you cannot buy. i do see some satanic imagery but i do think it was intended to create controversy. he clearly stated in this track "ya'll should be afraid of what i'm gonna do next". heath ledger's role as the joker probably inspired the clowns and the goths and blood has a lot to do with tweens and there stupid obsession with twilight and vampires!
speaking of which... you dumb bitches! if vampires existed you wouldn't want to fuck them, they would drink your blood which would kill you, then throw your body under a fucking bridge! stop romanticizing about a sexy pasty white pigment less fellow who is soooo dreamy and interesting you need to go down on him in the back of your daddys acura; ladies he exists, his name is Andres Iniesta!
