Racism..... much controversy surrounds the 20 year old superstar Mario Balotelli. born in Palermo, adopted by a Sicilian family, the youngster is waiting to be called up for the Italian national team. Something which may never happen. Italy has never had a black player, and many feel they never will. to complicate matters, Ghanaian national team coach Milovan Rajevac stated "As long as I continue to be the coach, Mario will never get to play for my team." Balotelli symbolizes the so called "bad boy" while on the pitch, many have said he is too immature, his style of play is too physical and he shows much disrespect to opposing fans and players. chants such as "when you jump up and down Balotelli dies!!" and "A negro cannot be Italian"- (Juventus supporters) show the abuse he suffers on a regular basis, in the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, AS Roma suppoters threw Bananas at him. this starts to paint a very twisted picture. supporters embrace having blacks playing for Club, but not Country. there is a serious fucking problem in Italy at the moment, and Balotelli could be the face of change.
